I saved 72% off at ShopRite today

I hit a big stock up sale today on cereal.  I'm not keeping all of it, some will be donated to our local food pantry.  I bought $124 of groceries but I only paid $36.66 out of pocket.  Some items I did pay full price for.  I got:

• Perdue Roasting Chicken
• 8 boxes of cereal ($.84 per box)
• 2 cans of Campbells Soup (FREE)
• 2 bars of cheddar cheese
• half and half
• heavy cream
• St. Ives body wash ($.99)
• 2 rolls of paper towels ($.19 each)

It's crazy that these things cost $124 retail.  Good thing there are coupons!

My ShopRite trip - 66% off retail!

I just unpacked my haul from this week's ShopRite trip.  Retail price $364.90.  I paid $122.22 out of pocket.  Not extreme couponing - but not bad either.  Here's just some of the items I bought:

• 15 bottles of Purex 50oz - $.50 each
• 7 bottles of Soft Scrub bathroom cleaner $.50 each
• 6 bottles of Soft Scrub cleaner $.50 each
• 2-12 count packages of Marcal Small Steps Bath Tissue $3.99 each
• 5 boxes of Scotties tissues $.68 each
• 2 boxes of Barilla Veggie Piccolini $.59 each
• 5 boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios 12.25oz $1.31 each
• 6 boxes of Nature Valley Granola bars $1.58 each
• 7 bottles of V8 V-Fusion Juice+Tea $.99 each
• 2 bottles of Maple Grove Farms Dressing $.79 each
• 6 jars of Skippy Peanut Butter $1.42 each

That doesn't include the produce, dairy and bread that I picked up as well.  What am I going to do with all those bottles of laundry detergent & cleaners?  Share them with my family.  While I only saved 66% off of retail, I was able to score some organic & natural items.  Feeding my family healthy is more important than getting 95% off of retail.

Here are some more coupon matchups:

• Wish-Bone Salad dressing - on sale 2 for $3.  Use the $1 off of 2 coupon from the 7-31 R1 circular.  That brings the price down to 2 for $2.
• V8 V-Fusion Juice or Juice + Tea - on sale for $1.99.  Use the $1 off coupon from the 8-7 S to bring the total down to $.99.  You save $2.26 per bottle.
• Purex 50oz - on sale 3 for $7.  Alone this isn't the best deal you can get on Purex detergent.  Use it with the $.50 off of 1 coupon (you'll need 3 of them) to get the price down to 3 for $4. That's $1.33 per bottle.  You'll save $2.86 per bottle.  These coupons are limit 4 per shopping trip and they expire 8/20.
• Soft Scrub Cleansers - 2 for $5.  Use the $1.50 off of 1 coupon from the 8-7 RP to bring the cost down to $1 per cleanser.
• To get even better savings ShopRite has a promotion where if you buy 6 items from a specific group (soft scrub & purex are included in this group) you'll receive a Catalina coupon for $5. 
• I plan to buy 3 bottles of Purex and 3 bottles of Soft Scrub (with coupons) to get the $5 Catalina coupon.  I'm going later today so I'll let you know how it works out.

I've been busy today so it'll be a little while before I get some more coupon matchups for ShopRite up.  I did get there today to stock up for the month on Perdue chicken & ground chicken breast.  Last day of the 40% off Perdue sale.  It's usually the first week of the month.

I'm also going to start menu planning again.  I used to be very good about menu planning and matching up the sales with recipes, but I've been very relaxed about it this last year.  Too much happened - we moved, new baby, adjusting to life, etc.  No more.  After the little one goes to bed tonight I'll be planning my lunch and dinner menus for the week.
